Increase characters allowed in Company Name completed

When prompted for my company name in my profile, I was unable to enter it because hyphens were not accepted in that field. My company's name has a hyphen in it - to leave it out would be incorrect as it would not be the correct legal name. Hyphens, commas, and possibly some other punctuation characters should be allowed in the input field for company name.

Agreed, thanks for notifying us of this. We are looking to fix this.

    stop spamming me!!! completed

I don't want all these damn messages from you. You idiots don't even have a permanent opt-out.

Until they stop, they get reported to spamcop like all the unsolicited email I get from nigerians, penis enlargers, and other internet scumbags. You've built your own reputation, so live with it.

    Bob,
We try to make unsubscribing very easy. We are sorry are having so much trouble with it.

Our unsubscribe process is listed on our Help section (http://www.naymz.com/help.action) which is available on every single page on our site. To stop receiving e-mail communications from Naymz, simply log-in to your account and turn all of the email "Privacy & Contact" settings, found at the bottom of your “Account” page, to "never". You can also access your email settings and unsubscribe by clicking the link at the bottom of every Naymz e-mail which says "Too many emails? Change your settings here."

Should you no longer want your Naymz account, you can take your profile completely offline by logging-in to your Naymz account, visiting your "Account" section, clicking the "Edit" button on the "Subscription" section, and then clicking the "Delete Account" button. After you confirm the deletion of your account, all of your information will be deleted from our records.

Please let us know if you have any trouble with this. Best of luck to you and your future networking endeavors.

    plussed email addresses completed

The site is broken with respect to using plussed email addresses. See:

    http://mozilla.wikia.com/wiki/User:Me_at_work/plushaters

I'm sorry about this. We're using an open source email validator that must not accept this. I will look at updating the validator or switching to something that works.

actually make a way to change one's password! completed

I forgot my password and had Namyz email me a link to "reset" my password. I click on the link, but there is no way to actually EDIT it! All I get, when I click on the "edit password" is just another sign-on entry prompt. WTF?

It sounds like you have cookies disabled in your browser or a personal firewall tool that is blocking cookies for Naymz. You must at least allow the JSESSIONID cookie in order for Naymz to maintain your login. Please check your settings and let me know if this is not the issue.

    Allow releasing domain name completed

I have created trial domain name just to see what it would look like, but now I want it to point to my personal website, not to Naymz. How do I release domain name?

You can release the domain from your account at anytime. Simply log-in to your account, visit the “Account” section, and “edit” your Custom Domain settings. In the selection field, select “Choose No Domain” and click save should you want it removed from your account. It should be released in 5-7 days and can be acquired through any domain name registrar that sells .name domains.

fix the Yelp.com linking issue completed

Currently when you try and add a Yelp.com name (for example, jaym which should link to http://jaym.yelp.com/ ) Naymz comes back with an error indicating that it is not a valid page. Perhaps because there is a redirect? I also tried adding not as a Yelp entry, but as a "custom" entry and had the same issue. Finally I tried linked directly to the page Yelp redirects to, and also had the same issue.

Yelp is preventing our server from connecting to their pages to verify page existence or syndicate reviews via RSS. I will contact them directly to get this resolved. Hopefully, since in-links are in their best interest they will open this back up.

Create requested Custom Domain Name completed

When I signed up (if I recall correctly) I thought I was going to get my name followed by ".name" as the domain. I did a search on the name and it was available but it came out only partialy corrct which might as well be totally incorrect. First I would like this repaired on my profile but in the future you should immediately explain what the user will be given. Again I have to add that I cannot remember all the processes that took place but I still think this is a valid point.

I think I understand what happened here. When viewing the Naymz Premium sell page, if you have not selected a trial .name, we default to show you that you may be able get your 'first.last.name'. We will update the page to clarify that this is based on availability and provide a link to check for availability beforehand.

marc.williams.name was assigned to another Naymz user, but he did not upgrade to premium, so it will be available to you again shortly. I will handle this personally.

Stop sending invitations to my entire contact list completed

This has happened twice. It appears that Naymz has accessed my Outlook contact list and is sending e-mails to several people I didn't intend to invite, such as customer contacts. I don't know how to stop this from happening, but it seemed to kick off in a automated fashion without my opting in to it.

Naymz does not send invitations out unless a) a member uploads their Outlook Contact List and b) clicks the "Invite" button at the bottom of the invitation form. We will never send invitations out without a user specifically clicking the invite button.

If the recipient does not want to join your network, they only need to decline the invitation. They can also opt-out at anytime by selecting the "opt-out" link that appears at the bottom of every email the receive. This is explained directly above the form you used to send out invitations.

Alternatively, you can delete your invitations at any time by logging-in to your account, visiting your "Network" page, and deleting any or all of the invited parties in the "invited" section. This will cease any future reminders to your contacts unless you choose to re-invite them in the future.

    Stop re-sending Invitations completed

Please stop resending invitations to people I invited but did not accept.

I get complaints of up to 4 invitations reaching those people, and they get annoyed at me.

Naymz sends out one invitation out and two reminders over the following 30 days should they not accept or decline. After 30 days, the invitation expires.

AOL name space needs to include dot completed

AOL name space needs to allow for dot... I and a lot of other people I know use the format

    firstname.lastname@mac.com

By discounting the dot, it automatically disqualifies all of these addresses and usernames.

    @mac.com addy's are now allowed.

Make this a secure site! completed

How can you expect professionals to take this site seriously if you don't secure the transmission of their personal information and passwords? How hard is it to offer https://naymez.com?

When Naymz launched, every page was secure. Due to a number of issues, this was not a viable solution. For instance, AdSense and Google Maps do not support https which led to a bunch of browser warnings. Naymz has since been changed to use a mixture of secure and insecure pages to provide security but also minimize annoying browser warnings. Almost any page can be viewed in a secure mode by changing the url to https in your browser window. Important pages are also secure by default.

Clicking the 'Sign In' or 'Join' links at the top right corner of almost any page will bring up secure login/registration forms. Pages involving billing information for our premium members are also secure. Accept invitation registration pages are now also secure.

Improve your SEO for other Social Networking Sites completed

Improve your use of SEO/SEM with all other Social Networking sites; this would most likely take development of partner programs with these sites. What I would like to see is each site being optimized for all the high level search engines to promote name, products and company without forcing the end user to go through Naymz, it can show powered by (or some sort of marketing) Naymz but limited to that. It should include all the SEO techniques (applied to that particular site) such as keyword, keyword analysis, reporting, etc...

    Hi Marc,
Thanks for participating on this board. Your input is helpful and always welcome. Some social networks do a good job with their SEO, others don't, and some intentionally don't want user profiles found on search engines. We have spoken with a few social networking sites who were not interested in using us to help with their search marketing efforts.

Why can't I see the names of people who inquire about me? completed

I see their addresses, but not who they are??

Naymz can only show the names of visitors to your profile if those visitors are also Naymz members and logged-in to the site. Because privacy is very important to us, we also allow members to opt-out from being seen when visiting other profiles. This level of reporting is also only available to premium members.

    Minimize upselling. completed

I would do as LinkedIn does and take it easy. The ads are strident and numerous enough to confuse. For those new to social networking sites, it is not always clear what is being sold or how it works.

We recently removed the premium services overview from the sign-up process and there are no ads besides a few buttons and links in the member accounts.

not tell me what my nickname may or may not contain completed

Who are you to tell me how my nickname is spelled? i canont have "two or more consecutive letters?" What moron decided that was a good restriction for a name?

Currently we have an error show when a middle name has 2 consecutive capital letters. Until now, we have never had anybody who has had an issue with this. We'll plan on removing this for nicknames.
