Cut the fees. Make it free like LinkedIn. I will not pay.
You want my info, you want me to stop everything to build a profile. You want me to promote this to friends and colleagues. Then you want us to pay to use this site.
There is no spare $ in the budget for sites like this.
All I can say is ... Nevermind. I'll stick with LinkedIn.Like LinkedIn, most of our tools and features are free. However, LinkedIn also has a premium service which is $199.50/year.... http://www.linkedin.com/static?key=business_info_more
While LinkedIn is a great tool for keeping in contact with people you already know, members have to pay a minimum of $19.95/month to reach out to other individuals whom they don’t know or dont share a common contact with. Naymz encourages and empowers our community to extend their networks and meet new, reputable professionals whom they have common interests with.
We are attempting to take a different angle on Professional Social Networking by adding layers of identity verification, social reputation, and online promotion tools. Here is an overview of some of the features that makes us unique from LinkedIn… http://www.naymz.com/micro/compare
Before assuming we are trying to “nickle and dime” you to sign-up for our premium service, I encourage you to take a closer look at what we are offering:
• As part of our Premium Service, Naymz will provide detailed visitor reports which will give you additional information about who visited your profile. This include location (city, state, country), where they found you (google, yahoo, etc.), the IP Address (which will often be associated with a particular company), and name (only when it is a fellow Naymz user and they have their permissions set to allow others to see them). This is something that neither LinkedIn nor Plaxo offers.
• We also will go out and pay for custom sponsored results (advertising) for your name on Google, Yahoo, and MSN. This assures that when someone searches for you on the search engines, they can find information that you control at the top of the results. This is something that neither LinkedIn nor Plaxo offers.
• Included with the Premium Service, we will pay for and acquire a personalized domain name (http://tom.drugan.name) and email address (tom@drugan.name) that links to your profile. This also helps your profile rank highly in the natural results of Google and other engines. This is something that neither LinkedIn nor Plaxo offers.
• Naymz also will pay for a Trufina Identity Verification and background check and place a badge on your profile so that visitors to your profile can be assured that you are the person behind the page. This is something that neither LinkedIn nor Plaxo offers.
• We will also remove all advertising from your public profile and from your account when you are logged-in. This is something that neither LinkedIn nor Plaxo offers.
All of these items cost us money to provide to our members, and as much as we would like to give these away from free, we wouldn’t be in business very long if we did. We have a good percentage of our members who are using our premium level service and seem to find it pretty useful.
I hope this sheds some light on our service and intentions. If it hasn’t changed your mind at all about Naymz, we understand and wish you the best of luck over at LinkedIn and Plaxo.

import profiles etc from Linked In planned
We should be able to import the profiles from Linked In. Recreating information is unneccessarily time consuming and not necessary given modern technology
This is something we definitely plan on doing in the near future. Many social networks are looking to solve the problem of making data portable between networks and we plan on being at the forefront of this.

Form for client/partner endorsements
Provide a simple customizable form to allow clients/partners to give an endorsement without having to join. Name and valid email should be sufficient. A link from my website to give a "testimonial" or "endorsement" would get them here. But many are reluctant to join.
Currently your RepScore is also based on the RepScore's of your references, your references must also be members of the Naymz community to leave endorsements on your profile. We will keep this posted here to see if there is more support for this.

Provide detailed RepScore point accounting planned
It would be helpful to know not only the total RepScore, but to know where the points are coming from. For example: If you can earn up to 250 points for identity verification but have only received a portion of that, how would you know to follow up with Trufina to supply missing information?
We will be changing the RepScore Details section under the Profile tab to be more of a checklist than a 'what's left' view of RepScore.

I will not pay for come-ons
When you send a notice that someone has viewed my profile, and provide a link, I expect to SEE who viewed me. Thereafter, if I want more info on this person, or wish to connect, I'll pay.
If you demand that I pay before even seeing who viewed me, I like that to a carnival "pay me now, and see the bearded lady" - only to find it's a puppet with a beard.
If you're building a reputation based on reputation, nothing is more repulsive than getting the carnival nickle game.
I will NOT pay until you restructure your protocols and programs.
It seems that I'm not alone. read the messages, and you'll see that many others are repulsed by the nickle-dime approach you are taking.
GET WITH THE PROGRAM - fire the CEO and hire someone who understands viral community building.
If you're lucky, you'll be mentioned in articles that profile Linkedin, Youtube, Facebook, etc.
Otherwise, beyond the time I'm taking to write this message, there is little incentive to waste anymore time with Naymz.
Oh - and as CEO of a DOTCOM survivor, I'm not being hollow in my recommendations.
SO - here's the short list:
- if you send me an e-mail wanting me to see who has viewed my profile, SHOW ME.
- if you don't show me, than give me an OPT-OUT link instead.
- understand that I will NOT pay just to see your bearded lady - thereby determining the low class, low quality of your community, and I'll OPT-OUT anyway.Best of luck. Hope you don't end up as a footnote in Wikipedia section on social networks 5 years from now, but I see it as a high probability.

Put more info about NAYMZ in the email invitations planned
Invitees are sometimes put off, as in a) "oh no, one more social network!" b) "yikes, what is this?" c) "gee, am I going to have to write a reference?" or d) "pay money?" So, please place some assurances in the standard invitation email to set our contacts at ease and encourage them to go through with the minimal (at least) rep scoring.

Allow blocking of user sending unwanted connection requests. planned
For months now (perhaps as long as a year) I've been receiving repeated connection requests from someone I do not know. Inspite of declining each time, this user persists, even using variations of the same name (i.e. they have multiple user profiles or accounts). I reported this in the past, but it would really be helpful to be able to block spammers like this.
We are working on creating a Block function that will achieve this and negatively affect the RepScore of the person who gets blocked. In the meantime, your best bet is to ignore the invitation (i.e. leave it in your Received Invitations section) and you will not receive reminders in your Inbox/E-mail. Of course seeing it there may be annoying, but once the Block functionality is available, you will be able to Block it.

Select one or more references to Solicit Endorsements
It would be nice if we can select one or more references to Solicit Endorsements instead of sending it only to all references.

Increase number of Endorsements to 'Unlimited'.
Currently only allowed to display 10 Endorsements. This is a limitation on being able to advance Rep Score and Reputation. Member should not have to 'pick and choose' from any Endorsement and should be able to display them all.

Allow use of a nickname as the primary name listing. planned
I'm known by my middle name, not my first name, but since Trufina background checks require full names, Naymz requires me to use my full name in my listing. No one is going to know to search for my first name.
A few of users have run into this issue. Typically, Trufina allows you to change your verified name to be your nickname (contact Trufina support). Then you can change the name on your Naymz profile and, viola, you get the badge and points.
We will likely be moving towards an 'Also Known As' model for name inputs. Once we make that change, as long as your main identification matches your Trufina information you will receive the badge.

stop sending out erroneous emails
Stop sending erroneous emails; which amount to nothing more than SPAM, alleging someone has made inquires to a user’s profile. It is a sleazing way of trying to solicit business to the non paying users and calls in to question the legitimacy of naymz as a networking website.
To stop receiving e-mail communications from Naymz, simply log-in to your account and turn all of the email "Privacy & Contact" settings, found at the bottom of your “Account” page, to "never". A link can also be found at the bottom of any e-mails we have sent you in the past which will allow you to change your settings and unsubscribe all together. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Allow export to csv or sync with google contacts, yahoo...
Would be great if the service could sync with other services like Plaxo, G-Contacts, Yahoo, or Hotmail, etc... Or at the very least export to CSV or other general contact format.

in box spam started
I've noticed lately I'm beginning to get spam in my inBox which also begs the question whether our profiles are being scraped for the supplied data. I suggest you offer both a network spam filtering system (either internally or in conjunction with a 3rd party system (i.e. Cloudmark's SpamNet) as well as a page or data encrypion so our displayed info cannot be scraped and used for spamming.
We are now penalizing the RepScore of the people who send Inbox messages that are then marked as Spam by the recipient. We also disable sending of messages for these users if a threshold of spam is sent within the last 30 days. Further measures to penalize users who send Invite Spam are also planned.

If you click on the endorsements they are covered up started
If you click on the endorsements they are covered up by other stuff on the right in FireFox. Please correct this error. Thanks! ( did not find the "fix this" section so I posted it here)
This is an issue in Firefox 2.0 due to some changes made to support Firefox 3.0. We are working to correct the issue, but upgrading to Firefox 3.0 will resolve the issue for you immediately.

Allow multiple names/nicknames
A kind of "Also known as".
Many people change their names over their life. An obvious example is the maiden/marriage last name(s) for women.
The same for nicknames.
Also first name can have several form (and the person will be known inthe network not only by his passport name), and it looks like Naymz doesn't take it into account.
Also, even if the name is not changed, for non-latin names there are several possible spellings. So when you search the network for references, you also need to search with these additional names and nicknames, and they should be explicitely provided by the person.

Rename 'references' to 'contacts'
Reference sounds like an endorsement, so why not rename 'references' to 'Contacts' if you're going to keep 'endorsments'? It's too confusing.

Reposition Banner Ad on Inbox Page
The ads that appear to the right of the messages on my inbox page overlap the message when it is expanded. This causes part of the message to be blocked by the ad itself. Please reposition these ad's placement to another area that won't obscure viewing messages. Thank you.

Change your 'reputation' model
In the Naymz world, my professional reputation is based on volume. In the real world reputation is more linked to quality than quantity. The nagging to improve my 'reputation' is honestly a bit annoying. While I understand the need for Naymz to proliferate in order to be successful, lowering my score because I don't have sufficient volume (as Naymz grows) truly degrades the notion of 'reputation' into something more akin to gamesmanship.
If real world reputation is not what Naymz portrays, it has no value to me.
Anybody can create an identity for themselves or for someone else and claim anything they want. How do we know the person behind the profile is who they say they are? How do we know they are trustworthy and truthful in their claims?
The basic idea behind Naymz is to allow users of our community to establish and improve their online reputations, and thereby doing so they will improve their online networking capabilities.
Each user on Naymz is assigned a RepScore, which is a confidence index that we assign based on 3 levels of criteria: Community Verification, Profile Completeness, and Identity Verification. This score is intended to give users the opportunity to establish and improve their online credibility/trustworthiness. In addition, this also provides other members of the community a way to evaluate other users and their reputations. Users build their Reference Network with friends, colleagues, and/or classmates whom vouch for their reputations as well as the information that they claim about themselves on their profile. An individual's RepScore is not only dependant on the amount of references one has, but also on the RepScores of each reference. It's as much as about quality as it is about quantity. We equate it to Google PageRank for reputation.
Your RepScore level is relative to the scores of all Naymz users. As more people join Naymz and existing members work to achieve more RepScore points, this can impact your RepScore level. Here is more information about how RepScore is compiled and how you can improve it...
